Ashley Murphy

“Our weaknesses can turn into our strengths. We can overcome our challenges—and use them to help others. Don’t be ashamed of what makes you unique—rock your differences. Own them, and be you.“

Ashley Murphy is an 18 year old Theatre and Performing Arts student at York University. Born with HIV/AIDS, Ashley has overcome great obstacles to survive and flourish. She has travelled the world sharing her story of perseverance and courage in the face of stigma, bullying, exclusion and discrimination in the hopes of inspiring others to keep trying, have faith and believe in yourself.

She has been awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship and the Inspire Awards, Dr Charles Roy Award for HIV/AIDS Activism.  She is the current recipient of the Prince of Wales Youth Service Award for Global Activism and the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award. She’s been volunteering since she was three years old and raised more than $130,000 for various charities.
